DELIVERING REAL-WORLD READINESS:
Cybersecurity, Computer Science, and AI in Action
In a world where daily headlines remind us of data breaches, cyber risks, and hyperaccelerated Artificial Intelligence (AI) evolution, Cecil College does not just train
students; it cultivates digital innovators. With national recognition, state-of-the-art
facilities, and curricula built for the future, Cecil is where computation, security, and
the future come together to advance and prepare students for the digital workforce.
Cecil College currently offers a variety of technology programs to meet the
educational needs of our community and greater region, including associate degrees
in Computer Science and Cybersecurity as well as certificates in Cybersecurity,
Computer Science, and Artificial Intelligence.
Cecil College’s technology programs contribute significantly to training tomorrow’s
workforce. From understanding how data moves across physical networks to grappling
with emerging technologies like machine learning, a holistic program enhances a
student’s ability to think critically about digital systems from the ground up.
Both computer science and cybersecurity complement each other. While Cecil’s
computer science courses provide a foundation in programming, systems analysis,
and algorithms, cybersecurity focuses on securing the infrastructure through handson labs and real-world scenarios.
With courses in computer hardware,
operating systems, networking and
more, the Associate of Applied Science in
Cybersecurity degree prepares students
to apply for entry level positions that
support planning, implementing,
upgrading, and monitoring security
measures for the protection of
computer networks and information
systems. Through in-depth theory and
extensive hands-on activities, students
develop skills to ensure appropriate
security controls are in place that will
safeguard digital files and vital electronic
infrastructure. They also develop critical
skills to respond to computer security
breaches and viruses.
Cecil College recognizes that modern
technology cannot operate in isolation
from artificial intelligence. In response
to the growing role of AI in all career
disciplines, the College has introduced a
Certificate in Artificial Intelligence.
