BEYOND THE BOOKS:
A holistic approach to student success
While college success results from hard work, long study hours, and
dedication to academic goals, student achievement also depends on the
support systems provided by the institution.
At the forefront of Cecil College’s mission are student programs and services
that are integral to helping students achieve their dream of earning a college
degree. From financial aid to mental health support, Cecil College offers an
extensive range of resources that help remove barriers and support students
as they pursue academic success.
Mental health plays a critical role in academic achievement. Cecil College
recognizes this by providing a comprehensive network of support. Services
range from on-campus crisis intervention and substance abuse education to
virtual counseling through TimelyCare, which is available 24/7. The College
also offers the Zen Den, a quiet space for meditation, prayer, and relaxation, as
well as lactation rooms for students with children.
The College’s commitment to fostering a thriving, healthy campus community
is reflected in the wide range of wellness initiatives offered through its
Wellbeing Office. Under the guidance of the Manager for Mental Health
Services and Student Wellbeing, Darlene Ramsey, these programs and
resources ensure that every student has access to the care, tools, and support
they need to flourish academically, emotionally, and personally.

One of the most impactful new
developments is the Triage System,
a structured process designed
to enhance the efficiency and
responsiveness of the Wellbeing
Office’s services. This system allows
staff to swiftly assess student needs,
prioritize urgent concerns, and
connect individuals with the most
appropriate resources. The goal is to
ensure that every student receives
prompt personalized care that aligns
with their unique situation.
Another cornerstone of student
support is TimelyCare, a free,
confidential virtual counseling service
for Cecil students enrolled in credit
programs. With the TimelyCare app,
students can access up to six virtual
counseling sessions per academic
year, enjoy 24/7 “Talk Now” emotional
support, and explore a wide range of
mental health and self-care resources.
Cecil College also continues to
bring mental health awareness to
life through a variety of engaging
programs and events. Annual
highlights include de-stressor events,
mental health awareness programs,
