Athletics Baseball Summer Camp
On the youth side, camps are designed to be hands-on and fun, avoiding
the traditional classroom feel. Camp Scrubs, for ages 10 to 18, offered in
partnership with ChristianaCare, gives campers a firsthand look at medical
careers. In fact, many of the 300+ half and full-day camps, including the Young
People’s Theatre program, for ages 5 to 17, are successful in helping young
people build confidence and teamwork skills.
McCloskey notes that people return not just for the great classes and
instructors, but for the sense of community they experience. This social
engagement is just as important as the academic content, especially in
supporting emotional and mental enrichment.
Under the leadership of McCloskey, the program is also responsive to
emerging trends. Feedback from students and instructors is reviewed
quarterly, which has led to the introduction of new course offerings, such
as a continuing education artificial intelligence class. This effort to stay
relevant and forward-thinking also includes ongoing partnerships. Cecil
College collaborates with APGFCU to deliver financial wellness seminars on
retirement, estate planning, and money management. Lifelong Learning also

co-hosts events, such as the 55+
Healthy Lifestyle Expo, in partnership
with the Cecil County Department
of Community Services. This event
provides opportunities to meet
community resource representatives
and participate in programs and
workshops throughout the day.
The event attracts more than 300
attendees annually to Elkton High
School.
