EDUCATION THAT GROWS WITH YOU
At Cecil College, learning can continue at any age or stage of life. Through its
robust Lifelong Learning program, the College offers dynamic and engaging
opportunities for students of all ages. From summer camps for individuals
as young as five to a wide variety of adult programs, Cecil College offers
something for everyone within the community.
“Lifelong Learning is not just about taking a class, it’s about building
community. Courses like Watercolor, Stained Glass, and Local History create
opportunities to connect with others, share experiences, and engage in
meaningful projects,” said Jamie McCloskey, Director of Lifelong Learning.
“Our goal is to serve the entire community, and we have something for
everyone.”
True to that mission, Lifelong Learning courses are held not only at Elkton
Station and the North East Campus but also throughout Cecil County and
online. Unique venues, such as the Upper Bay Museum in North East, host
hands-on classes for Boat Building and Restoration, while Sinking Springs in
Elkton offers wreath crafting, herb classes, and more. Community members
can enjoy gardening and landscaping courses at the Donaldson Brown Center
in Perryville, a beautiful waterfront location that provides immersive, handson experiences. The program also features hybrid and online classes, making
it accessible and flexible for today’s learners, according to McCloskey.
“I’ve taken two classes
at Cecil: Aerial Imaging
and Video Production I.
Both classes were a lot of
fun and filled with people
of different ages. Some
students were earning
credits and some were
taking the classes for fun.
I am definitely going to
enroll in more classes.”

Among the most popular courses
at Cecil College are art, dance, and
fitness classes, which foster creativity
and well-being. Language offerings,
including Spanish and Italian, have
gained popularity, particularly
among those seeking to travel. The
program recently introduced Spanish
V: Conversational, Spanish II and
Conversational Italian II to meet this
demand. Additional on-trend classes
include Aerial Imaging and Video
Production I.
