WELDING
Basic Electrical Part I
This course is an introductory program
covering the basics of residential wiring and
the National Electric Code and the basics of
electrical theory, tools, and systems. Learn to
design and install modern and safe residential
wiring systems that meet the electrical power
demands of today’s world. Upon program
completion, students can earn their OSHA 10
and NOCTI Electrical Occupations credentials.

NCCER Welding – Level I
The welding program will provide the basic
knowledge and skills to become an entrylevel welder. Upon successful completion of
the program, students will earn Certificate
of Completion for NCCER Welding – Level
1, NCCER wallet card, and their credentials
entered in the NCCER Registry.

This course is the second of two parts in the
Basic Electrical program designed to prepare
student to gain knowledge and understanding
of basic electrical theory and installation using
the National Electric Code. Upon program completion, students can earn their OSHA 10 and

ELECTRICAL APPRENTICESHIP
This intensive four-year electrical
apprenticeship program is designed to provide
electrical apprentices with the necessary
theory and practical training to earn the status
of electrician. Throughout the duration of
the program, apprentices work full-time and
attend classes two nights per week, providing
the 8,000 hours of on-the-job and classroom
training required for the journeyman electrician
license. The curriculum is recognized by the U.S.
Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship
Training, and students receive nationally
recognized credentials as a Journeyman
Electrician upon satisfactory completion of the
four-year electrical program.
AN APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM:
• Offers paid employment with progressive
wage increases
• Includes structured, hands-on training under
the guidance of a professional electrician
• Combines supplemental classroom education with practical learning tailored to
industry needs
• Provides a nationally-recognized, portable
certification upon completion
• Is vetted and approved by the U.S. Department of Labor or State Apprenticeship
agencies

The Electrical Apprenticeship is offered in partnership
with Independent Electrical Contractors Chesapeake.
Note: Students must provide 4.5” angle grinder,
welding helmet (shade 10), jacket, gloves,
safety glasses, and steel toe boots.
CONSTRUCTION, HVAC/R,
WELDING
Cecil College has partnered with the National
Center for Construction Education & Research
(NCCER) to offer standardized construction and
maintenance curriculum and assessments with
portable credentials in construction, HVAC/R,
and welding.
HVAC/R
NCCER HVAC/R – Level I
The HVAC/R program will provide the basic
knowledge and skills to become a qualified,
entry-level employee in the HVAC industry.
Upon successful completion of the program,
students will earn Certificate of Completion for
NCCER HVAC – Level 1, NCCER wallet card, and
their credentials entered in the NCCER Registry.
Students will also have the opportunity to take
the EPA608 Certification exam at the end of the
program.

MIG & TIG Welding
MIG and TIG are two of the most popular
welding techniques used in the industry. MIG
is used primarily in the welding of sheet metal
while TIG is used for aluminum. Hands-on
practice in both processes will be provided.
