Piano III
This course is designed for individual piano
and music theory studies for advanced
students. Students will further develop their
skills and technique including sight reading
and harmonization. Students will deepen
their knowledge of music history and theory,
improve aural skills and music analysis.
Students must have access to a piano or
electric keyboard to practice assignments daily.
Electric keyboards are provided for classroom
use only. Topics include technical, interpretive,
improvisational, and sight-reading skills as well
as developing a student’s understanding of the
history. Note: Textbook required.

PERSONAL SAFETY/RECREATION
AARP Driver Safety Program
This course addresses the physical changes that
can affect the driving ability for experienced
motorists age 50 and older. Students will learn
tips and techniques to help prevent accidents
and foster independence. An informative, easyto-read course workbook is included based on
data collected from federal and state agencies,
universities, and traffic safety organizations.
Invest a few hours in this important program
and reap the benefits of safer driving and
possible lower insurance rates. Topics
include how to drive defensively, how to
deal with aggressive drivers, proper use and
maintenance of vehicle, how to compensate for
vision and hearing loss, and safety aspects of
the car including safety belts, air bags, and antilock brakes. Notes: Behind-the-wheel exercises
are NOT part of this course. Participants who
are AARP members are required to pay $20 and
participants who are not AARP members are
required to pay $25 to the instructor on the day
of the class, cash or check only. A 30-minute
lunch break is included. Students should bring

Aerial Imaging:
Drones for Visual Communications
This course introduces the fundamentals
of flight through small Unmanned Aerial
Systems (sUAS) for photography and video
production. The course prepares students
for FAA compliant flying with hands-on sUAS
practice and course content. Students will
apply professional aviation processes to create
still and video-based media using rotary-wing,
remote-controlled platforms provided during
class. Essential photography and video editing
topics will be addressed, in addition to sUAS
operations such as mission planning, airspace,
weather, and regulations Corresponds to credit

Basic Photography
Turn your creativity to the camera. Students will
learn elements of the digital camera, camera
handling, basic composition, and lighting.
Digital camera and inkjet printers will be used
in class for immediate feedback. An in-depth

Digital Photography
This is a general overview course designed
to familiarize participants with the process
of digital photography. Learn how to use the
functions of a digital camera such as: shutter,
aperture, white balance and ISO. You will start
to see through the lens of a camera. Learn how
to look at lighting, textures, and colors. Note:
Students should bring their own cameras.

intangible thing called “vision.” Learn how
to develop and refine your vision, create

Nature/Wildlife Outdoor Photography
Be introduced to the fundamental art and
craft of professional nature-and-wildlife and
travel photography: aesthetics, equipment,
processes, portfolio preparation and marketing.
Go on extensive field trips to photograph.
Students work with transparency film and/
or digital cameras. Students complete weekly
lab assignments to produce a final portfolio.
