offers a variety of classes to expand

opportunity to join our Senior Network
and enjoy the benefits.
Youth and Homeschool programs for ages
6-17 are offered all year round. Classes
encompass the whole alphabet from
academics to zany! Whether it’s hot or cold
outside, we have something for children at
Cecil College.
Beginning Ceramics
Build, decorate, and fire clay. Course will
introduce beginning students to clay handbuilding techniques, wheel throwing, and mold
making. Love of messiness is required. Notes:

Wheel-Thrown Ceramics introduces students
to the pottery wheel with emphasis on skill
development of throwing techniques. Students
will be given a foundation in the history,
aesthetic, and technical aspects of working
with clay on the potter’s wheel. Notes: Textbook

Ceramics/Japanese Raku
Explore contemporary approaches to the art
of Raku and the historical relationship to the
Japanese tea ceremony and Zen philosophy.
Students will learn clay and glaze formulation,
construction techniques, kiln building, and the
use of oxidation and reduction firing. Notes:
